I wasn’t able to pull off an 11 second pass yet with the stock 14b turbocharger, I ended up running 12.0X 3 times in one night with various “not so great” 60′ times. Had I been able to put a good launch together with the better mph from tuning at the end of the night, the car is capable of 11.8. The track conditions were also very poor: humid night, few other cars on slicks, and no VHT down at all.
12.079 @ 111.76 on a 1.573
12.067 @ 112.59 on a 1.639
12.023 @ 113.02 on a 1.700
Picked up another 1G-B for parts. This one is fairly well modified: E3 16g, rebuilt engine, eprom, and all the typical fuel, exhaust, computer mods. Comp200 cams, FMIC kit, 4bolt rear. The suspension has also been completely gone through with new poly bushings. SSR 17×8.5″ GT7 wheels with good tires.
EDIT: 05/17: This car is currently “under the knife” and most of the performance parts have been added to the online ordering. The rolling chassis is up for sale for $550 with stock wheels/suspension.
EDIT: 05/10 I took this Talon to the dragstrip last friday to “test it out”……got a 12.6 @ 110 out of it on pumpgas at about 24psi of boost.
I’v picked up a 92 Eclipse GSX automatic with just 100k miles, very good body & paint, completely stock and unmolested. It’s been sitting for some time, so it needs major cleanup! I may try and get this car running/driving and sell it whole rather than part it out. Edit 5/2: I got the car to start, but it only runs on 2 cyl. #3 and #4 have no compression. Likely HG is blown between cyl.
After sticking a 14b/6cm turbo onto my everyday driver GVR4 to replace a failed T3T4, I decided to take it to Island Dragway for some fun. Ended up taking the GVR4 stock turbo record with a 12.16 @ 111 on a 1.58. Planning to change to a 7cm turbine housing, drop 120lb of weight, and improve the 60′ time in a couple weeks with the goal of seeing an 11.xxx timeslip on the stock turbo.
Nearly all the Galant VR4 specific items have been added to the shopping cart, and Im continuing to add more parts every day. It still amazes me that there are hundreds of individual items on these cars to sell.
Ill be adding items from partout #11 through the next week or so, I expect to be finished with that car about April 9th or 10th.
Edit Apr 27: This car is 80% parted out, most items will be added to inventory this week after I get a day to do photos of items that aren’t already in the shopping cart system.
Next car on the chopping block: 1992 Galant VR4 #416 of 1000. 133k miles.
Has some dings and scratches, the hood has a dent.
All wiring harnesses are in excellent shape. not-hacked engine harness & all good plugs.
3″ SS downpipe & 3″ mild steel press bent catback. No cat. damn near new condition.
Starion FMIC core. Support and bumper cover have been cut up to fit fmic.
Sunroof, power antennae, windows, locks, all electrical stuff works.
Full interior with good leather seats. Headliner is so/so.
#416 dash badge. no keychain fob.
3bolt rear diff/axles with 4WS parts still there.
ABS pump and lines and power steering rack intact.
Brake systems all there. Clutch hydraulics and shifter cables all there.
Fuel tank, sending unit, and fuel lines are all intact. stock fuel pump.
This time we have a “new years eve special”….front end smashed talon. Kinda sad, this one only had 81k miles on it and was totally unmolested, stock, and in very good condition. The engine had 160+psi of compression. The Automatic AWD driveline is going into my buddy Brent @ JMF’s 1g dsm drag car.
This one was crashed on the passenger front side: Totaled! Parted down and inventory refilled for GVR4 specific parts. This car didn’t have much in the way of aftermarket, engine, or drivetrain parts since the previous owner had already torn it down and sold off the high dollar stuff. It was basically just a shell when I got it.
Chassis is rotted through, it was an upstate NY car and saw heavy snow & salt winter use. Possibly the worst case of rust on a Mitsu car I’v ever seen in all my years with dsms.
The engine/trans/xcase is still available, wiring harnesses, much of the exterior and interior.
